Killing guide/notes

Melee

Melee is by far the most popular method to kill abyssal demons, due to the abyssal demons being able to teleport themselves right next to you (or the other way round) it is not possible to 'safe spot' them with mage or range. Abyssal Demons are a fairly weak monster for their level, they don't hit hard and they are fairy easy to hit in terms of defence, chances are by the time you get 85 slayer you will be a high enough level to kill them with no problems.

The best weapon to use is debatable, although from my experience a godsword does seem slightly better than a whip, but nothing to be worried about if you don't have one, the difference is barely noticable. Armour wise, Bandos would be the best if you can afford it, Barrows is also good to wear (drops pay for repairs and provide a profit) but if you're really stuck for cash rune would be enough although you will end up getting hit quite a bit more and have to spend more time/money healing.

Guthan works very nicely here, you'd be able to camp here until your Guthan broke if you really wanted to. Saradomin GodSword is also very useful, you'll be able to finish an average slayer task without any healing costs. Bunyips and other familiars with the ability to heal are also great for healing here, I personally use Bunyips here as they are less hassle than the other methods, one right click - summon - and you're usually fine for hp until the Bunyip's timer runs out. If you are using only food i'd strongley suggest you kill the Abyssal Demons in the fairy ring abyss (fairy ring code ALR), the Zanaris (lost city) bank is fairly close by and takes no longer than a minute or two to travel to the bank and back.

Range

Range is a less popular method of killing the demons due to the fact that you cannot 'safe spot' them, but none the less it is still possible to range them effectively if you have the right equipment. (I don't recommend ranging them unless you are wanting range xp, it is slower than melee and costs more)

The demons can hit fairly well on range armour, I would advise wearing 'tank' equipment (shield, melee helm+legs, range top, range boots etc) along with using a rune crossbow with mith or addy bolts. The healing methods mentioned in the melee section can be used with range (Guthan and sara gs would mean having to stop ranging to heal, so a familiar is by far the best choice) you may also need to eat some food if you're defence bonus is fairly low.

Magic

Not many people mage Abyssal Demons (or many other monsters for that matter :P)  but they are actually a fairly decent monster to train magic on using combat spells.

Wearing a melee: top and legs, mage: helm, book, staff, cape, boots etc (play around with equipment see what works for you) it is possible to tank mage the demons fairly well. The two best spells to use in my opinion are Magic Dart or Fire wave, they give a good damage/cost ratio and hit fairy accuratly on the demons.

You should find yourself around the break even mark in terms of the cost of the spells compared to the value of drops you get (if lucky you may even make a nice profit, or visa versa). The exp is fairly decent too which makes them a fairly good place to train magic with the possibility of a profit. As for healing, familiars/food are recommended so you're not switching between melee and magic to heal.

Example inventory

The inventory below is only an example and will probably not work for everyone, tweaking with a few of the items to suit you is advised.

Slayer Task Equipment notes

  • Black mask (if not on task a Neitiznot Helm is advised)
  • Godsword (Abyssal Whip and other high level weapons are fine too)
  • Bandos Armour (Anything Rune+ will be ok)
  • Ring of Wealth (I personally find it helps, but it's up to you to wear it or not :P)
  • Bunyip Pouches (If you have high enough summoning i highly recommend these, if not then use this space for food)
  • 2 Super sets (This will usually last for a slayer task, more sets are advised for longer camping trips, especially if you're using Guthans or a Sara Godsword)
  • 2 Prayer pots (I bring these just incase i run out of food towards the end of the task, very rarely use them but they can come in handy some times)
  • Nose peg (Don't forget this! :P It is needed to get past the Aberrant Spectres without them draining your stats)
  • Food (Although most people use other healing methods such as guthans and familars to stay here longer, you will likely need some food for when these other methods aren't healing well)
  • Empty spaces (Only leave a few spaces empty if you're confident you can complete your task without banking, this lets you pick up the first few drops without wasting food)
